Taj Mahal Still in the Reckoning: 10th on New Wonders’ list

This is real good news! Taj Mahal is still in the reckoning for being included in the Seven Wonders of the World! The landmark, which was on 14th position recently, has gained votes enough to bring it to the 10th position.

The list of the leading contenders includes:

# The Acropolis – Greece
# Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza – Mexico
# The Colloseum – Italy
# Eiffel Tower – France
# The Great Wall – China
# Machu Pichchu – Peru
# Petra – Jordan
# Statue of Easter Islands – Chile
# Statue of Christ Redeemer – Brazil
# Taj Mahal – India

The contest which ends in one month will choose the new landmarks through a global online and phone vote. 50 million people have voted so far in the competition which will produce a 21st century list of the World’s Greatest Man Made heritage sites. The winning list is to be announced in Lisbon on July 7th.

All the Countries that are in the reckoning are carrying out special events to encourage people to vote for their respective sites! This also includes Indian Singer dedicating a song to Taj Mahal even as Brazil’s soccer team is urging Brazilians to vote for Christ Redeemer, the statue that adorns Rio-De-Janeiro’s skyline.

India’s Taj Mahal can still make it. So, all you folks out there VOTE FOR TAJ!
